Phainopepla
These birds are often in the desert in the winter and springs, but frequently breed in the mountains and foothills in San Diego County in the summer, lingering into the fall (and sometimes winter). Their movements are still somewhat mysterious. These images were taken in the Cuyamaca Mountains in early summer.
