All the images below are from the Cuyamaca Mountains, California, except the second-to-last one which was photographed in the southern Sierra Nevada Mountains, California. The last image looks a bit like a female but there is a bright pink early gorget feather present, suggesting a young male.

Calliope Hummingbird
In California, a migrant through the Peninsular Ranges , but more reliably found and photographed in its breeding range in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The female (or possibly juvenile male) was photographed in the southern Sierra Nevada Mountains in July.
Lucifer Hummingbird

Broad-billed Hummingbird
An easily-observed species in southeast Arizona. The males below were photographed at Madera Canyon, Arizona in summer. Many of the birds were molting, and some were immature males, not in their full colorful glory.

Hybrid Hummingbirds
Berylline X Broad-billed Hummingbird Hybrid

This bird was photographed at the Santa Rita Lodge in Madera Canyon, Arizona on August 16, 2024. It was identified as a hybrid by an expert on eBird, in part based on the lack of rust color in the greater coverts and at the base of the secondaries, and reddish base of the upper mandible.
(Confusing) Possible Hybrid Hummingbirds
Possible Anna's X Calliope Hummingbird Hybrid

This bird was photographed at the Santa Rita Lodge in Madera Canyon, Arizona on August 17, 2024. It's gorget does not seem like a full Anna's Male, and has Calliope-like qualities to it. The presence of some orange on the tail is also unlike an Anna's male.
Possible Anna's X Rufous Hummingbird Hybrid

This bird was photographed at the Santa Rita Lodge in Madera Canyon, Arizona on August 17, 2024. If has qualities of Rufous Hummingbird, but the gorget color seems more like an Anna's Hummingbird.
