Desert Cottontail
A common cottontail of not just deserts, but the mountains, valleys and coastal plain of the southwestern United States. The images below were taken in the Cuyamaca Mountains of California.
Black-tailed Jackrabbit
A hare of open species, including the coastal plain in some areas of Southern California. The animals below were photographed in the Anza Borrego Desert State Park, a place where these jackrabbits are much more abundant.
